Sharen (Cheri)'s Story
Life
I live in North Carolina. It has always been my dream to get back to NC or VA since I left in my 20's. I have 3 cocker spaniels, 1 cat and a goffin cocatoo. I have 2 grown children and 1 grandchild, Savannah. I am semi-retired. I am a substitute teacher in elementary school. I enjoy gardening, cooking and being active in my church. My husband is about to complete his PHD at age 70. He is in Florida finishing up his job and will be moving here in January 2007.
School
I remember Mr Nunn's french class. He used to come to our house for dinner and we used to laugh about how easy it was for the class to get him off track. I remember coming to school and rolling up my skirts to make them shorter because my Mom would not let me raise the hems. I remember saddle shoes and t-strap Trotters. I remember pep-rallies, pomp pomp corps, homecoming and sock hops. Those were the carefree days. Where did they vanish to? I ...Expand for more
enjoyed drafting class even if I was the only girl in class. And snow days, were my favorite because a girl from southern California didn't get much snow.
College
I headed to Mary Washington College of UVA after graduation. Soon I had to return home because my mother became ill and needed help with my two sisters. I met and married a Naval Academy graduate and moved to California. We unltimately divorced and I moved to Florida where I met and married Dan Fazioli. Dan, is my rock.
Workplace
I worked off and on as a secretary. In Florida I managed a hotel for 22 years. My next job was office manager for a neurologist in Clearwater, Florida. Today I am semi-retired, and I am loving it.
Military
You can say I was in the military, sort of, for my first 21 years. I was a navy brat and then married an Academy man. I have a great deal of respect for our military and their families because I have been where they are.
